I've tried to add a few new contacts recently and their email addresses just
show up in my offline contacts. I've been talking to them on the phone while
I was online and they were online and we both just show up as offline. I've
tryed downloading live again but it didn't fix it! Please help me!

Thank you!

Greetings,

You're not the only one, this has been happening to a variety of people including myself. It
is presently a "known issue".

Greetings,

In fact there is. What you will need to do is the following.

- Go to Start, Run
- Type "regedit"
- Navigate to the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\

- Delete the MSNMessenger key

- Restart Messenger

You may need to re-install Messenger after deleting this key if Messenger
fails to respond.

But that should work for you.

Please tell me how it goes.

I just wanted to let you know that this worked beautifully.
First try. I didn't have to re-install.
I signed out and back in and now ALL my online contacts are showing online.

Thank you Jonathan.

Hi,

Yes that works, but all you really needed to do was delete the Policies key (so you wouldn't
delete all your emoticons and so on). Just to clarify for those searching for this content.

Hi,

It is different in that it doesn't destroy your emoticons, winks or settings like what you're
describing does. But it would have the same effect.

The policies are under:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSNMessenger\ Policies

So if you remove the entire key, the policies go with it... and so does everything else.

Hey Jonathan

This solution is better or just more wide? Because i run your solution (the
..reg) to fix the problem.
Should i use this too or it's just the same thing?

Tks,
Diego
