Please add a feature in the next version of Messenger by which:
1. Each user will be able to create a list of favourite applications that
he/she has installed on his/her computer.
2. Allow this list to be created both manually and automatically, if the
user so desires, by using the most frequently used list of shortcuts on the
user's Start menu.
3. The list would initially contain names, versions, company info and
popularity (frequency of use) of each favourite installed application on the
user's computer. This info can be retrieved from the Add/Remove Programs
records, after the application shortcuts are selected from the Start menu,
(in step 2). The list should not include all installed applications but a
configurable number, e.g. top 10.
4. By using web services that could be offered by Windows Marketplace (why
not call it Windows Live Marketplace?), more info could be gathered for each
"favourite" application, i.e. its download location, its price, its Windows
Logo status (e.g. it has passed Logo Certification, etc), it Spyware status
(e.g. has been identified by Windows Defendor as spyware or not), its user
rating mark from the Marketplace, additional user comments and/or related
applications (e.g. related games), etc. This remaining info should also be
placed, after the user consents, in the favourite list of applications.
5. Allow each Messenger user to show his/her Favourite Application List to
his/her contacts on Messenger and additionally, by setting the right
permitions, on Spaces Friends or has it fully open to the public as a part of
his/her public Space, like any other Space list. Allow also the user to show
a currently running application personal message, similar to the Now
Listening Personal Message, if desired.
6. Allow other users to rate applications that are on their friends lists.
Most importantly allow users to download and purchase, if required, an
application from the Marketplace just by clicking on it in their friends'
Favourite Application Lists.
7. Publish to the web and on a website easily accessible from within
Messenger, a most popular list of applications across all Messenger users by
category, e.g. most favourite games.
8. Show a pop-up, similar to the one shown when someone updates their Space,
when a friend is trying out (currently running) a new application or has
added a new application to his/her favourite list.
9. Do the same with music, i.e. provide a list of favourite songs that a
Messenger user can populate either manually or automatically that could also
be reflected on someone's Space, containing rich song metadata that could be
retrieved from Windows Media Library, and which will allow friends to rate,
comment on and even purchase songs that their friends like from a number of
online stores.
10. Software and music popularization and distribution might thus be
revolutionalized. Spyware could thus be eliminated by the community.
Especially if in your community rating system your include Windows Defendor
or other Antivirus results or connections with the Microsoft SpyNet network.
Similar ideas were also expressed by one of your employees, Dare Obasanjo.
Thanks and what are your comments?
