new features of messenger popup

hi. I was on the messenger stuff website earlier and I got a pupup box
(thatlooked like the sign in box from messenger) that said something about
some new features being talked about in the blog. now I am wondering if this
was from messenger itself or if this was just from the site. because it
didn't go anywhere when the box was clicked.

Would need a screenshot to really say. But given your description, sounds like an ad to me
from the web page - are you sure it didn't have your browser's window around it?

If you have Plus! installed, on very rare occasion, it can generate a toast/alert which is an
advertisement and looks like the Messenger (pre-2009) ones, but that's about all I can think
of that's similar to your description.
