Show shadows and animations.. I like the shadows thing and it forgives the
flatness of the GUI with
the shadow giving it depth.. I didnt see any animations though...

and then there is a video carousel thing.. whats that?

I haven't seen animations but I'm glad I haven't -- even the shadows slow down the PC to a
crawl.

Hi,

Vista uses hardware acceleration and a desktop compositor for it's effects, completely
different.

This is a totally different beast, and using the standard GDI engine which frankly can't
handle such things when you have like 30 conversation windows open.

Apple and oranges here.

I believe that the shadows are accelarated if you have a fast card...
WindowsFX checks this and tells you at least (that has shadows too).

also windowblinds has shadows and I dont think that it is as slow as you
say.....

Hi,

That's different. Unfortunately the term "acceleration" is used rather loosely. The entire
architecture of how windows handles Windows (and their related effects) is completely
different in Vista.

I can bring WindowFX to its knees with 30 conversation windows too. You don't in Vista.
