I'm not sure if this is a function of IE or Vista. I tried everything
and finally downloaded IE Maximizer to "fix" the problem...
BUT I want to know what is CAUSING the problem. Never happened before
Vista came with the new computer.
Is there a setting somewhere (and I have tried all the TAB settings)
that I am missing.
I think the point of a NG is not just to fix things but to LEARN about
the topic !!

to keep the setting saved:
1. maximize IE7 window
2. press ALT -> File -> Exit.

Maybe I did not make my problem clear enough, EVERY new link I click
on only appears as the menu area of a new window, I can expand it,
save it as you suggested but this happens with EACH and EVERY new
link/window I click on.......
There must be a setting to remedy this,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Set Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) to open to a maximized position for all
Internet Shortcuts

1. Launch IE7 from the IE7 Quick Launch Toolbar icon.
2. If you do not have an IE7 Shortcut showing in your Quick Launch
Toolbar,
a. Go to your [C:\Program Files > Internet Explorer] folder.
b. Locate iexplore.exe
c. Right click on it and select [Sent To > Desktop (create
shortcut)].
d. Launch IE7 from the new IE7 Desktop Shortcut icon.
e. Follow the remaining steps.
3. Make sure it's *NOT* maximized.
4. If it is maximized, click the center tab in the 3 upper right tabs to
minimize it.
5. Drag the edges to where you want them.
6. Close IE7.

From now on URL shortcuts will open IE7 at that size.

Note: The new Desktop IE7 Shortcut can now be deleted if you do not want to
keep it, it is no longer needed.

AS jim wrote I have the same problem and the only solution I found is to
install the IE maximizer but I can't believe that Microsoft have not thought
this over and they need a separate software to maximize all windows. I tried
a lot of different solutions such as streching the corners of the new window
close the first one and ctrl+close and all the rest of the convinations but
nothing seems to work.
I finally got fed up and installed the IE maximizer but still can't believe
that the NEW IE7 can do that by itself!
Anyone found a solution for this issue that actually maximize the new window
as you achieve with the IE maximizer, all the rest of the solution that
consist on stretching only set the new window to a certain size but no the
microsoft maximize size function.
