So I built a computer from parts as a Christmas present for my brother and
installed a new copy of Vista on it. Well, there has been some issues.

First, after install and the first time windows started it asked me to
create an account. I followed the prompts and after click ext for the final
time, the computer displayed the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD). So i reset and
when Vista came up again it asked me to create an account again, which I did,
this time it got to the log in screen where both accounts were ow displayed.

At this point I decided to download updates. They downloaded fine, but the
computer BSOD during the install of the updates. Reset try again, worked with
no BSOD. So then I opened games and saw that there was an option to rate the
machine's gaming abilities. Tried it, during the test, BSOD. Reset, tried
gain, no problem.

Then I installed World of Warcraft; installed and patch download when
without a hitch. But I have been testing the game on his computer and have
gotten several BOSD's.

Basically, my question here is is Vista just so buggy that these BSOD are
something that just need to be lived with and is there a cure for this issue.
I'd really appreciate help since I don't want to be giving a buggy computer
for a Christmas present. Thanks!

I doubt it is the operating system at fault in this case. You said you
built this computer from parts but didn't given any specs. You also
didn't give us the Stop Errors. So I can only guess, but my guess is
that you have faulty and/or incompatible hardware and I would start
troubleshooting with the video card, following it up with the RAM.

try removing some RAM or run the vista memory test. i was getting lots
of BSOD after install, removed 2gb and everything was stable. after
exchanging the RAM the replacement 2gb works fine.

Try putting in the video drivers fairly soon after the chipset drivers.
