New Installation

I performed an OEM install of Windows XP w/SP1. Afterwhich, I updated my
motherboard's Bios and my Video card drivers. I also installed Adobe Acrobat
5.0 and Norton Internet Security 2005 (not enabled). I then proceeded to
update Windows XP. I downloaded and installed 4 updates then rebooted my
computer. When it came back up I updated Windows again. This time I
downloaded all 32 other updates (SP2 and critical updates) and installed them
while I ate dinner. After dinner I came back to the usual "You must restart
windows". When doing so my system did not restart properly. It hung up and
I had to perform a hard boot. When I finally got it back up I hit the
internet explorer icon and my system immediately crashed (I could barely see
the 'blue screen of death' because it happened so fast). Now my computer
will not stay up. It constantly reboots no matter if I hit the Internet
Explorer icon or just sit there not doing anything. Does anyone have any
ideas as to what might be happening? Should I have upgraded/updated Internet
Explorer before downloading all the Windows updates. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

turn off the auto-reboot "feature" . Go to system properties, advanced,
statr up and recovery. uncheck the "automatically restart" tick box.

Let us know what the bluescreen error is.

Here is the error that I got last night "PFN_LIST_CORRUPT" sorry but I didn't
get the numbers to go along with the message.

that's generally a driver issue or a stick of bad RAM. I'd guess that
perhaps when the PC hung, it was halfway through installing a driver or
something similar.

you might want to try system restore to a point before sp2 was installed,
and then try installing it again along with the rest of the updates. Though
may be an idea to just do sp2, reboot, then do the rest and reboot
