Hi Chris,
You can install ActiveSync either from the CD or from the MS site. Both
will work fine on your new laptop with the ipaq. Just make sure you install
Outlook before installing it. When you setup the partnership, you will
encounter the Combine or Replace dialog. If you want to get your data from
the PPC to the computer, choose the 1st option to combine data. If choose
to sync files, then only files that are stored on your PPCs' My Document
folder will be copied onto the desktop.
With regards to your Tom Tom Navigator, you might some help here ---

Reinstalling it shouldn't delete the favorites and other settings. But I
suggest you confirm it or take a backup of the device before proceeding.
Someone here might be able to confirm this question of yours.
