I bought a Compaq HP computer in April, and the sales persons (Frys
Electronics) said that it came with Windows Vista, the box says it comes with
Windows Vista and the computer says it comes with Windows Vista. Well, I
have tried multiple times to enter the product key on the bottom of the
laptop and it never worked, it just says that the key is incorrect, try
again. But seeing as I hadn't had a large need to use the Vista programs, I
wasn't to worried about it. Well, now I need to make a powerpoint and I am
unable to do to it not accepting it.

So I called Compaq and they said it was just a trial version...which is
completely different from what everyone else has been telling me. So does
anyone have any ideas of what is going on?

Hello Hope,

Go to Frys Electronic. They are responsible for your problem.

Best regards

Hello Hope,

The trial version is of Microsoft Office, not Windows Vista. The key on the
bottom of your laptop is your Vista key. It will not work to unlock the
Office trial. If you wish to continue using Office, you will have to
purchase a key for it.

You seem to be confusing Windows Vista with Microsoft Office.

Your computer is running Windows Vista.
Windows Vista is the operating system.

You are trying to use PowerPoint which is not a part of Windows Vista.
PowerPoint is a part of Microsoft Office.

Many computers ship with a trial version of Microsoft Office.
To continue using after the trial is ended, you need to purchase
Microsoft Office or the components of Office you need.

The Product Key on the bottom of the computer is for Windows Vista and
will not work with Microsoft Office.
