New Mail Notification sound stopped working

System: Dell XPS 420, 3 gig RAM, Vista SP1. Using Outlook 2007. New Mail
sound previews fine in control panel, but does not work when mail arives.
All other system and mp3's wavs etc work fine. Ideas?

Outlook, Tools menu, Options, Preferences tab, "E-Mail Options" button,
"Advanced E-Mail Options" button, see checkbox for 'play a sound'

This is where it is in Outlook 2003, and I would guess it was something a
lot like that in 2007.

I am having the same problem, however, the box was checked, it was working
last week, and now it's not, do you think this has something to do with some
Vista upgrades I did?

How can i get it to work again? it's driving me crazy.

I also did a system repair, and that didn't help.
