I currently am using Live Messenger ver. 8.5.1302.1018, which is the current
RTW and is updated via WU. When the new version is RTW, will we be
automatically upgraded, or will we have the choice to download/install the
new version manually???

Greetings,

New Messenger versions typically show up 2-3 months (or longer) for updating after their
official release. At no point does Microsoft automatically update you to new Messenger
versions though and forced updates only happen generally if there's a major security hole in
the version you're trying to logged in with.

Thanks Jonathan. I hoped that was the case. Normally I would be right in
there with you, but I have a lot of family members using WLMsgr and right
now, IT WORKS.

That's always good to hear

Especially with those you have to support -- if it works, don't fix it. Even I have to admit
although features have come (and gone) the fundamentals of Messenger hasn't changed in
awhile.
