Purchased a new computer with Vista 64 bit OS. It came with new MS Mail
program and MS Works. I prefer it rather than MS Outlook that was bundled
with my old Office 2007. Can I install my Office 2007 suite on the new PC
and leave out the Outlook program? Any conflicts? Thanks, Ross Moody

When you are installing Office select the 'custom' install and then disable
Outlook and, for that matter, any other office programs you don't need,
Access, Powerpoint perhaps.

I've run Vista with Outlook installed and haven't had any conflicts.

You can leave Outlook off when you install office or you can install it so
you will be able to open your old PST files if you have any. Simply select
Windows Mail as your default mail handling program and it won't be an issue.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but there doesn't seem to be an easy way to
convert/export Outlook PST files into a format that Windows Mail will read.

In order to make the pst data available to Mail, both Mail And Outlook has
to be configured (working) on the same PC with the particular pst file
connected within Outlook

Thanks to all for comments. As I am now retired, retired I want to simplify
operations. As suggested I will customize Office 2007 install on new vista
PC and omit Outlook. I have many old files saved but I doubt if they are of
any further use now.
