New network so how do I update other computers

I have only had one computer online for sometime. Having installed a router,
I now intend to have three other computers with access to the internet with
two users only. However, two of the other ones, while having XP, do not have
SP2 and this is worrying for security. However, each time that they are
connected online, the update page on microsoft update fails to load in. Each
computer has its own copy of windows with code. They should validate Ok
shouldn't they?
Please would you give me a clue as to how to proceed.

download the sp2 patch
install it on the other computers
then
turn on auto updates on the other computers
the next day or in a few hours
go in and do a manual windows update
this will catch all the updates that autoupdate misses

there is no reason that you should hire outside the usa
to get work done that americans can do
