just bought a new laptop and noticed that in some of the web sites
that I go to the borders on the page have become blurred or
nonexistent. Any ideas re how to fix this? thanks

For example, if I do a Google search the box where I'm supposed to

So rather than blurred you mean faint? barely perceptible? Probably to do
with your display settings ..
This laptop here has the Intel Graphics media Accelerator which gives
powerful controls over your display.

I suspect you might need to reset your 'color correction' to default.

try this:
Control panel (classic view) > Intel(R) GMA Driver for mobile > Color
correction > click on: restore defaults > apply > ok

I should say: try the above or similar .. I have no idea which display
software you will be using.
Also I am looking at XP here, so my reference to 'Control panel (classic
view)' might not be applicable in Vista.
