New service coming for Windows Live Call? When?

I couldn't sign up for the paid call service where you can call land phones
via your pc for pennies per minute. Sent email to live messenger support and
learned that only current subscribers of the "Verizon?" service could do it
at this time. They said a new service was being developed and that I should
check back periodically for updates. Does anyone know when that will be
available? I'm considering going to Yahoo's paid service if the wait will be
too long. Thanks.

It's been down for awhile. I believe the actual close of the Verizon service is in August,
so it should be around there.
