New Vista Home Premium install: 8007007A

15/15 failed update attempts.

I just installed vista home premium, first time i've ever used vista... and
it gives error 8007007A. Quick google and forum search shows that this isn't
commoon.

680i chipset
e6600 intel processor
6600gtx 620 mb version (as i recall)
vista is on a sata drive, 320mb. xp is on a raid-0 of two 500gb drives.

I'd like to be able to run vista's updates, expecially since I heard about
an animated .gif exploit which can totally nuke the system via a website. (if
someone put that up)

I tried going to windowsupdate.microsoft.com, it just tell me to use the
vista button. it finds the updates, tries to install them, but they all fail.

Any suggestions would be great!

Was this an upgrade to Vista from a previous OS or a fresh installation?
Which antivirus software, if any, is installed ?

Hmmm ... see if you can install the latest Windows Update Agent,
christos. Download it from here and save it:

For x86 [32bit] Vista, XP, WS 2003, Win 2K
http://download.windowsupdate.com/v7...gent30-x86.exe

When the download is finished close the browser and any other open programs
Stop the
*Right* click WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe and choose Run as administrator
If it still fails to install try booting to Safe Mode and installing it
from there

I tried installing that program, but it didn't seem to do much I don't
think. Sorry, still new to Vista here.

I am running the free version of AVG's antivirus. I shut it, and all
browsers/programs down. Annnnd, now I just read that you told me to
right-click and run as admin. I didn't do that, oops. (what I get for not
re-reading before I shut out of everything)

It looks like it's Nvidia stuff which is refusing to install correctly. I
made a screencap, here:

I have: Vista on 320gb drive. I have XP on two 500gb drives in raid-0. I
use the bios to change boot priority to switch between the two. Since Vista
isn't on the raid, i don't get why it may be giving me trouble.

Retry installing the WUA by *right clicking* it and choose to Run as
admin. Or boot to Safe Mode and see if it will install from within there.
For the Nvidia driver, try downloading a later driver package from the
manufacturer's web site.
BTW, Nvidia is being roasted for it's lack of 'expertise' in regards to
Vista:

Ok, looks like this is a known problem by the looks of the EVGA's forums.

Yeah, it wasn't just Nvidia, I heard lots of people were slow to get drivers
out for Vista. Hp printers, the flash issue. then that unoffical patch to
fix WMP 11 and firefox issues.

Well, it's a new OS, I sort of expected a few things to not be 100%.
