New Vista Install...which one to buy

I'm currently running Windows XP on my desktop and would like to switch to
Windows Vista mostly for Media Center streaming to my Xbox 360.

My question is which version (OEM, upgrade, system installer) do you
recommend? If I went with the system installer and later had to reformat the
hard drive, would I have to buy another license to activate it again (even
though it would be the same computer)?

I plan on going with the 32 bit Vista because of all the compatibility
problems I've ready about with 64 bit Vista.

Thank you for your replies

Full version, retail box... that way your OS isn't tied to the
original computer, and you are free to sell your copy of XP (if it's
sellable).

You can find it at a good discount via Frugal.

He probably meant Froogle - the rather nice old pun-name for Google's
Product Search.
