New Windows Auto Update and now I have no Desktop?

Sometime during the night the new security update was done through my auto
update, now after the reboot I can not acces my desktop..when it first
reboots it is there but then it disappears and I can't even open it from the
control panel? Anyone have any ideas??? Thans!
