Newbie Vista Version Question

Currently, I have a desktop and a laptop that are connected by a wireless
point-to-point network that was set up using the Windows XP Professional
networking wizard. I use this configuration to share files between the
desktop and laptop and to print from the laptop to a printer connected to the
desktop.

I need to replace the laptop and am looking at getting one that runs Windows
Vista.

What is the minimum version of Windows Vista that I will need to retain this
functionality?

Any version of Vista will work with your wireless network.

Vista Home Basic would be the "minimum".

Is that not the bottom of the line version? Why would you say Home Basic is
the minimum for wireless when it is in fact the minimum you can purchase?
