Ever since installing SP2 for XP, I can go out to Windows
Update, but every single time I click on Express or
Custom option to search for updates, it goes right
to "We're Sorry - Windows Update has encountered an error
and cannot display the requested page. You may find the
following resources helpful in resolving the problem:".

Does Microsoft not have its newer version of Windows
Update up and functional?

Are you runnimg a third party Firewall, such as Norton Internet Security? I
receved the same message, but discovered that I could run Windows Update
after disabling the firewall. I have contacted Symantec about this
situation. One problem is that Norton Internet Security Personal Firewall
DOES NOT display any messages asking for permission to access the Internet.

I consider the situation to be unacceptable.

Regardless of whether or not I turn on Windows Firewall,
I still get this same error message. I never had a
problem with their update site prior to SP2. I use Norton
Corporate 9.0 and don't see a local option for a firewall
with it. I'm guessing this whole problem is on Microsot's
end....gee, that would be a change, wouldn't it?

Anyone ever respond to this? I am having the same issue.
Running XP Home 'version 2002' and have kept up with all updates until now.
I am using sygate personal firewall and have tried with it disabled as well.

Any help appreciated.
