Newest update... severe problem

I updated the main computer in my house with the newest security update...
well, it actually hasn't finished yet. It is one of the updates that installs
after shut down. It has been running for the last 3 hours! It is stuck on the
"Updates are being installed (1 of 1). Do not turn off or unplug your
computer; it will turn off automatically"... is there something wrong with my
computer, or is this normal?

Please help me out!
