Well many of you have heard me speak of my friend with the access denied
errors among other things with trying to install windows updates. She
finally called Micrsoft and they went through numerous of steps for hours
and they could not figure it out either.
What happened to my friend (if you didn't read or see earlier posts) is:
when she tried to install sp2 it gave her errors on could not back up a
certain registry file. Anyway she tried it over and over and still the same
problem. She did a repair from the xp cd and then tried to get all of her
regular updates again. The critical ones so she doesn't get the blaster
virus, and so on.
Well even trying to install windows media player 9 series it would say
"could not install" after it went through the process and looked as thou it
was installing.
This is what seems to be happening when she tries to install any Microsoft
stuff.
Anyway she was on the phone with Microsoft support for awhile today and they
are baffled. They are to send it to their research department and get back
to her.
Just thought I'd let everyone know since I said that I would if I found out
anything. I'm sorry I didn't find out any helpful info but at least those of
you who are having the access denied errors know it's not just you and
Microsoft is even baffled.
