no active mixer devices

I started with this problem, I had on board sound and could not solve it.
I have purchased a new sound card deleted the old drivers and installed new
ones for the soundblaster card, with the same problem.
I have checked device manager-no conflicts
Checked web site for latest updates and reinstalled the drivers
Disabled on board sound in bios
reinstalled directx
I notice many people with this problem
How do I reinstall active mixer devices. Were can I download this?

Installing the latest sound drivers for your operating system should solve
it.
Otherwise since this is a Windows Update newsgroup, you should take this to
