No ActiveSync begin sync sound from Axim

Dell Axim x3i, A02 ROM. ActiveSync 3.8. This is kind of minor but if I
turn down the sound on my PC speakers and cradle my Axim, no ActiveSync
sound is emitted from the Axim when the ActiveSync begins. The volume on
the Axim is fine and all other sounds and music and videos play fine. The
sync process works fine also so I am not very concerned about it but I found
it a bit odd. If I take the Axim out of the cradle, it makes the end of
synch sound. Going to the Start>Settings>Sounds & Notifications section of
the Axim, the boxes for Events and Programs and Notifications are all
checked on the Volume tab. On the Notifications tab, under "1. Select an
event" I have "ActiveSync: Begin sync" selected. Under "2. Select how to be
notified" I have the "Play sound" box checked and the "Infbeg" sound
selected. It sounds fine when I tap the play arrow.

After doing a google search, I see this has happened to some people but no
one has a fix for it?

I am thinking that the name of the sound file being "Infbeg" may mean that
it should only make that sound if I am doing an infrared sync? Soft resets
don't help. Just curious. Thanks.

Hi,
Do you have all items checked in the sounds settings on the Axim? These
override the detail settings for specific sounds.

Yes. I kept digging and found an obscure reference on an HP discussion page
that this issue occurs on occasion and no one knows the fix. I had not
heard of it before. Not worth a hard reset over as far as I am concerned.
I thought there might be a simple fix. I looked through the registry and as
far as my limited knowledge goes, references to the INFBEG sound appeared
OK.

Here is the HP link and they claim there is no fix or work around. Kind of
odd it affects a Dell too:

Thanks for the reply.
