When I double click Administrative Tools either from the control panel or
the start menu it brings up explorer and the folder is empty. How can I
get to these settings and tools??

Thanks,
James

Hi James,

Are the shortcuts for various admin tools present in the following folder?

"C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Administrative Tools"

If the shortcuts are missing, you can download them from here:

http://www.winhelponline.com/fixes/v...admintools.zip

The links are now back in the folder, thanks much. Although I don't know
how or why they became missing.

Thanks again,
James

Thanks for the feedback, James. Did you run a third-party cleaner or a tweak program recently?

Actually I did. I have TweakVI installed. 3 cleaners I've tried over
the past week or so - One Click Cleanup, CClean, and Ace Utilities.
I can't imagine a 3rd party cleaner thinking the shortcuts in the
Administrative Tools folder are broken shortcuts, junk or unneeded files.
I'll start paying a little more attention to what these programs are
removing.

Must be caused by one of those cleaner programs, James. This is the 2nd time I'm seeing this issue in the newsgroups.

Hi, Ramesh
Many of these Vista shortcuts work equally well on WXP. The following ones
do not: work on my WxpProSP2 stytem. I assume some or all of them are
available through a different shortcut or perhaps require a download from
Microsoft. Can you help?
I successfully changed the system configuration shortcut to point to
C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\msconfig.exe

1) iSCSI Initiator - %SystemRoot%\system32\iscsicpl.exe
2) Memory Diagnostics Tool - %SystemRoot%\system32\MdSched.exe
3) Print Management - %systemroot%\system32\printmanagement.msc
4) Task Scheduler - %SystemRoot%\system32\taskschd.msc /s
5) Windows Firewall with Advanced Security - %SystemRoot%\system32\WF.msc
