:: I have tried to follow all the directions on how to find the hidde
administrator account with no luck! I originally set up Vist
under my son's account, but his account now has parental controls. M
acount, which I thought had administrator rights has been changed and
know have plain ol'user rights.:
:: I have to make updates to my laptop, but can not do them under an
accounts since none of us have the proper rights. Can someone pleas
explain to me (like I'm a 3rd grader) on how I can fix this issue???:
::***This was not an XP upgrade; it was a new laptop that already ha
Vista loaded, I just had to complete the set-up.***:

If there are no other Administrator accounts on the system, you can boot to
Safe Mode and the Built-In Administrator account should appear on the Safe
Mode logon screen.

To boot to Safe Mode, restart the computer and as soon as it begins to
initialize press and hold the F8 Key until a black screen with a menu
appears. Use the Arrow keys to select Safe Mode and press Enter.

It will take a few minutes for safe mode to appear, so be patient.

When the logon screen appears you should see the 'Administrator' account.
This account does not have a password, by default. Just select that account
and press Enter.

Once safe mode starts, go to Control Panel / User Accounts and change your
account back to an administrator account.
