Have you tried using System Restore to roll the system back to just
before the update was installed ?
Show hidden files, folders, and system files :

Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the WINDOWS directory (folder)
Open the $NtUninstallKB920872$ folder
[If it is not present then the update is not installed.
But, by the sound of your post (no pun intended) it appears that it has
installed, albeit not correctly.]
Then open the spuninst folder and run spuninst.exe
IF the folder is not present, then suggest you try this as posted by

NOTE the space between the e and /
Hopefully, that will get the update installed properly and overwrite the
faulty installation.
