No boot after last set of auto updates

After yesterday's set of 10 automatic Windows updates applied on
shutdown, PC today wouldn't get past blank screen. Had to power off.
On reboot selected boot to last known good configuration. Windows
update history shows the 10 updates as successful. Is this, in fact,
the case or have they been rolled back?

Notebook PC running XP Pro SP3 and have always applied auto updates.

If so, how do I determine which may have created the problem. I have
auto updates still set but have changed setting to download and
prompt.

Any suggestions?

How to start your computer by using the Last Known Good Configuration
feature in Windows XP

Which Windows update history are you referring to ... the
WindowsUpdate.log or the history shown on the Windows/Microsoft update
sites ?

The updates should be listed under 'XP - Software Updates', towards the
bottom of the list in Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel. The 'Show
updates' box towards the top right must be checked to view them.

They'll also show in the ReportingEvents.log, located at
WINDOWS\Software Distribution, the WindowsUpdate.log, located in
the WINDOWS directory, and the System event log under Source,
Windows Update Agent.

Start a free Windows Update support incident request:
https://support.microsoft.com/oas/de...spx?gprid=6527

For home users, no-charge support is available by calling 1-866-PCSAFETY in
the United States and in Canada or by contacting your local Microsoft
subsidiary. There is no-charge for support calls that are associated with
security updates.

Same problem here (Win XP SP3).
Nothing on the F8 menu works. Safe mode reports system32\config\system file
last loaded. Booted with old disk and tried to restore system registry file
from restore point but no success. Started a Windows Update support incident
request:
https://support.microsoft.com/oas/de...spx?gprid=6527 (in dutch. nr:
1109719868).

I am an MCP (MCSE+I). MS should take this problem very serious!
