No Chinese in Windows Vista Language Interface Pack (LIP)???

I am using Windows Vista Home Premium English edition. According to my
understanding, only 'Ultimate' or 'Enterprise' users can download the
'Multilingual User Interface Pack' (MUI). I guess the LIP is my only
solution. It's freely available to download, unfortunately, I was not able to
find CHINESE in the Microsoft Local Language list!!!!

By the way, I have no problem reading and typing Chinese characters. But
when I tried to install some Chinese programs/softwares, the wizards and
dialog boxes in Chinese could not be displayed properly.

I'm afraid that's all that's available and if Chinese isn't an option for
you via LIP, your option is either to get ultimate or enterprise, but better
still because they are limited, to get a full Chinese language version.

There are two types of language files--and both are partial but either may
be what you're looking for. MUI available only in Vista Ultimate and
Enterprise are the most extensive--but LIP are available for any edition of
Vista. I'm not sure which Vista you have--but you may want to look into

If you have Enterprise or Ultimate you can look into MUI. But even if you
don't, you can download the LIP files, and see if they will do the job for
you. LOL I don't know how fluent you might be in Japanese either.

I don't know why but the Ultimate Extra's language pacls for Windows Vista
are not available when running the Windows Update tool on Vista.

Thanks! I just wanted to clarify whether there is Chinese in the LIP. As I
am using the Windows Vista Home Premium, I don't think I will be able to use
MUI...

Anyway, I am trying to download from the 'Standalone Links to Language
Packs' to see if it works on my system.

My two cents,

Notice that it says: "[...]to display information in programs that do not
use Unicode."

For programs using Unicode, one doesn't need to go through all these
troubles, so for your future benefits, asking your application vendors use
Unicode-based programming as much as possible. Hey, we are in a global
market now, and it will only benefit them for more potential markets/users
but not less.
