No connection after windows update

Hi,

I ran windows update yesterday on my system, running Windows XP Pro,
restarted the system as requested. Since the restart I cannot get a
connection to the internet, I am connected on ethernet, the LAN status says
connected and DHCP assigns IP but cannot get onto any webpage?

The status display states packet exchange for both send and receive.

Which updates did you install? Are they listed in Add/Remove Programs (with
Show Updates checked)?

Hi,

Same thing is happening to my friend .. he had an update 2 days ago.. since
then he cannot connect to the internet ... however he can contact others via
msn ... (this is how i am passing on the msg)

the update were KB933360 and KB939683

he is using xp home

The user is remote I will double check the updates that were installed, she
did tell me that on the restart an error message was displayed, but was too
quick to read fully as the system was restarting, but was to the effect
something could not be applied?!?

After the restart she has not been able to get any connection out, LAN
Connection states connected and shows packets exchanges for send and receive
but won't actually connect?

I didn't just want to use the restore point feature, if it's say a rollback
on the ethernet card driver?

Looking for other solutions as have seen this posted a few times on here?!?
