I restored my computer to original settings over the
weekend because of some issues I was having. I've
downloaded and re-installed ad-aware and amg for my
spyware and anti-virus, which were not part of my original
reason for restoring my system. I disable the anti-virus
whilst downloading.

When I go to the windows update page, it says "checking
for updates" and never changes. I don't get any error
messages. I went through the MS trouble shooting. I am
able to d/l the MS office service pack.

I have my system set up for automatic updates, and that
doesn't kick in either.

Can anyone help? I'm about to fix the thing the way my
daddy would....with a baseball bat! Just kidding. He'd
have used a pipe wrench and safety glasses.
