No Excuse for KB911567 still not useable

I have been carefully trouble shooting Windows Updates as they become
available and are installed. I have found that batch installing is trouble.
I decided to try an old update, KB911567 Outlook Express, which was
originally released a month or two ago. It was buggy when first released
and caused OE to not be useable.

I was greatly disgusted that a month later that update problem is still not
resolved. After installing it again today the same problem is in the
update. "There was an error opening this message. An error Occurred"
followed by instruction to reinstall Outlook Express.

How is an end user supposed to apply a security update if it does not allow
use of Outlook Express? Why has it not been fixed?

Try installing 911567 and then this:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en

Does that fix it?

I would try that download if there was a link to it on the page. The page
instruction says there is a link in the upper right corner but do not see a
download link.

OOps, nevermind. The download link is one the left in about the upper 1/3 of
the page. So much for the instructions. lol

Sure thing but it is not a problem with Outlook Express, it is a problem
with the update breaking OE. Outlook Express is fine when I uninstall Update
KB911567. I am hoping that the help that was posted by Robin Walker will
fix the issue and I will be able to have the necessary security patch in
place.

Robin

The hot fix appears to have solved the KB011567 update issue. Thanks.

Glad to hear Robin's suggestion helped. Understand though that it /is/ an
OE problem, not a Windows Update problem and we'd have pointed you to the
same fix in OE newsgroups.
