No internet access after windows update

After installing and rebooting an automatically downloaded windows update, my
win2000 computer will no longer access the internet. It will access other
computers on my peer-to-peer network, and those computers can access the
internet.

Is Zone Alarm installed ? -

Best security practice would behoove you to update to the latest version
of ZA or, even BETTER, uninstall ZA and get a firewall that *protects*
the system and is compatible with Windows:
