No internet after Windwos Update

Already two pc's lost their connection with the internet after an automatic
update from Microsoft for a system on Windows XP Home.

I had the same problem -- no/limited internet connection after installing
service pack 2. I actually am able to download my home page once and
initially recieve email in my in box after opening the application. after
that, i can't go to any other web pages or send or receive other emails. on
line games also don't work. I used system restore to confirm that the reason
for the problem is the installation of the update.
