When my husband installed a program on my Windows Vista he asked if I needed
"lines". I said no and now I don't have any lines on any pages.

That is the advice (a hotfix) you found in Vista's Product Guide, no doubt.

Sorry, I don't know what you mean by "lines." Can you be more
specific, please?

For example, on Ancestry.com there are no lines forming boxes with someone's
name and no lines connecting the people in the tree.

For example on Ancestry.com there are no longer any lines forming boxes
around a person's name and also there no lines conecting the people in the
family tree.

Have a look in the options section of that program to change it.

Or get him to uninstall it, and reinstall WITH lines!

I have uninstalled the program and the "lines" are gone from my email pages
and also all websites. So, I figure that this solution must be from Windows.

If I had to guess I think what really happened is he switched default fonts
to one that does not have the Line Draw characters in it.

Thank you for your help. What happened was the theme on Windows Vista had
been changed to "Custom". Now everything has been restored. I appreciate
all of the constructive solutions.
