I have been running Vista since the public beta 2 became available. Some days
ago after loading Vista the usual way there where no login icons or nice
colors, it was just a brown/black screen color with the "MS Windows Vista
Beta ..." notice in the lower right corner. I have tried different startup
options (safe mode, logging, last known good setup and so on) but I do not
get any contact with the pc. When I touch the mouse the arrow is moving, so
the pc is not dead.

Any suggestions what to do?

Is it possible to do a "repair" install with beta 2 so I do not have to
install all the applications ones more?

Thanks in advance!

I am running into the exact same problem you are except that I got mine to
fully boot with login screen and everything the first couple of times. And
then the screen disappeared.

If anyone can help....

There should be a new Group titled "Black Screen of Frustration" as I have
this problem and I have read all the posts, there are a lot of them out there
and there are NO SOULITIONS to be found anywhere. I think it is Video Card
related but there are option for safe mode, do not work, option for plain
jane video card, does not work either. No solution yet... I will find it, I
do sooner or later, but MSFT never pays me.... or gives us any free stuff for
destroying our systems and doing all the RD teams work to get this thing on
the market.

I had this problem, but I started with the normal safe mode, then rebooted,
and it worked magically!
