Hello,
Vista has an oddity with saving files from the internet directly to a folder that requires you to elevate to access. Try saving the .config files for logging to your desktop first, then copying them into \windows\windowsmobile. It sounds like the call the desktop makes to the device to get it's sync configuration is failing for some reason, but without the logs it's hard to say. -- Thanks, Steve Spiller Development Lead Windows Mobile Device Center This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. Steve,
Thanks for your response. Did so and the log files went to \Brad\AppData\Local\Temp (not \Windows\Temp), if that is important. I don't know if it is appropriate to post the results here but they may mean more to you than to me. Also, I got the usual server ActiveSync error popup but I didn't get the same UI as I did before - it now hangs at the waiting to connect green screen (if it means anything). I can also send the pertinent portion of the setupdev log if you like. It has quite a few triple bangs (but you learn to tolerate those in Linux). 10/22/2007 12:36:36 PM C:\Windows\WindowsMobile\WmdHost.exe (6.1.6965.0) --------- Begin logging ---------- WmdHost Information: 0 : WmdHost.Main DateTime=2007-10-22T17:36:36.0530461Z WmdHost Information: 0 : WmdHost.Factory DateTime=2007-10-22T17:36:36.1624211Z WmdHost Information: 0 : HostForeman.StartFactories Enter IsRunning:False DateTime=2007-10-22T17:36:36.6311711Z WmdHost Information: 0 : HostForeman.Dispose() DateTime=2007-10-22T17:39:27.9483616Z WmdHost Information: 0 : HostForeman.StopFactories Enter DateTime=2007-10-22T17:39:27.9503146Z 10/22/2007 12:36:36 PM C:\Windows\WindowsMobile\wmdc.exe (6.1.6965.0) --------- Begin logging ---------- wmdc Verbose: 1 : Creating new PartnershipCollection instance DateTime=2007-10-22T17:36:37.0374211Z wmdc Information: 0 : Entering PartnershipCollection::Initialize DateTime=2007-10-22T17:36:37.1780461Z wmdc Information: 0 : PartnershipCollection::Initialize - Clarification to above, the UI presented at device insertion says "Please
wait while Windows Mobile Device Center starts" and remains after ejection. It can only be killed through task manager. -- Brad "Steve Spiller [MSFT]" wrote: > Hello, > > Vista has an oddity with saving files from the internet directly to a folder > that requires you to elevate to access.
