No manual update anymore??

I prefer to update manually. Is this no longer possible?
Update tells me I have to reactivate automatic update.
Is there no other way?

The choice is yours, you can still do manual updates.

From what i can gather, you *have* to have the Automaic update service set to
automatic, to even do a manual update, but can tell it not to look for
updates (even though it keeps running). You can stop the service manually
however, and it will restart when its needed (using 'net stop wuauserv')

That is exactly what I would like to know. I prefer to update manually also,
so I will know for sure that I am getting updates.

Go to Control Panel->Security Center and turn off automatic update

While in the security click on "Change the way security center alerts
me" and uncheck automatic update.

I've done this and I can still do manual updates.
