No messages are showing up in my inbox

My inbox shows more than 3000 messages, but none are showing up. The setting
is set for "show all messages." Searching for the e-mails does not work
either. However, I still have my junk mail. What can I do.

Where exactly are you seeing the indication that you have 3000 messages?
Have you expanded / opened all of the folders and subfolders to see if the
messages are in them? Have you checked your email's web access to see if
the messages are there?

My inbox shows the 3000+ messages which is correct. There are multiple
accounts used with Windows Mail and I've had it for 3 years. My outbox shows
1 message and when i click on it Windows Mail locks up. My deleted messages
do not show up either, but for some reason I can access my junk mail. I've
turned off Norton e-mail filter and started to delete then recreate my
e-mails. The search feature on Windows Mail does not work either. When
you hit send/receive there will be a notification of a new message, but it
doesn't show up. The messages are on the computer but are not showing up
in Windows Mail.

This is still confusing . . . . you say you have 3000 emails ("correct"--??)
and your first post said they didn't "show up" - so how do you know you have
3000? Are they "listed" but won't open if you double click on them? Is
that what you mean?

The stuck Outbox message can likely be deleted if you log on to your email's
website - using IE (or whatever internet browser you prefer). This is the
place you would access the email if you didn't have Windows Mail. Have you
visited there? Can you delete the Outbox item and do your 3000 Inbox items
open there? If you delete the stuck Outbox message, does this rectify the
WM Inbox issue?

You may have an option enabled to "Empty the deleted items on exit" in
Tools - Options.

Sorry, but this is confusing me as well. On the left where it shows Inbox,
the number 3000+ shows up. Under deleted items there is also a number and
there is a number for junk mail. When I click on Inbox or Deleted Messages
the pane to the right remains empty. Since these have all been downloaded
from the server, they are not on the web accessed e-mails. I have made some
progress in getting the Outbox emptied by deleting all my accounts and
setting them up again. However, this allowed Windows Mail to download new
messages from the server again, ones that I am not able to see. It appears
the Show All Message feature is not working which frankly makes no sense.

WMUtil is a tool regularly recommended for stuck Outbox messages and corrupt
WM. If you've read other posts, you may have seen references to it. It is
authored by a respected member of this community and is frequently
recommended by others. Although I've not personally needed to use it, it
may help with your WM issues.
