No more DVD sound..Help!!!

My DVD RealOne and Inter Actual stopped playing sound all of a sudden, then I
updated my drivers, windows, and installed DirectX and still nothing!
What's the deal?

1) Which Operating System:
a) Windows XP
b) Windows 2000
c) Windows ME
d) Windows 98

2) Which service pack:
a) Service Pack 1 (XP and 2000)
b) Service Pack 2 (XP and 2000)
c) Service Pack 3 (2000 only)
d) Service Pack 4 (2000 only)

3) What changed on the system just before your DVD RealOne
and Inter Actual stopped playing sound? (ex. Did you
install a patch on your machine? Did you install new
Antivirus software or possibly downloaded a virus?

I have Windows 2000, Service Pack 4, and I had to reinstall Ad-Aware SE
Personal anti-virus after it became infected-maybe that's the problem?

Foster,

Thank you for your response. Based on this response, I don't think it was
necessarily a virus that is stopping your music from playing.

Instead, I suggest that you look at the device manager, and see if there are
any issues with the sound card. You will know this because there will be a
yellow circle with an exclamation point in it. This, in computer speak, is
often called a "bang" and will tell you which component of a device or which
device is having issues.

To look at the device manager:
1) Click Start
2) Click Run
3) type devmgmt.msc <enter> <-- Here, do not type the word enter, but
instead press the <enter> key.
4) When the device manager opens, look down the list for Sound, video, and
game controllers
5) Click the plus sign in front of Sound, video, and game controllers
a. See if any of the devices have a yellow "bang" over the speaker icon
in this list.
b. If they do, this is the result of downloading a driver from Windows
Update that was supplied by the manufacturer, and which is not going to work
on your computer.
6) The easiest fix to this is to go to the website of the Sound Card
manufacturer, download the driver for that card, and install it.

Post back and please let us know how that went.

Well, tried all those things and still nothing. Any other ideas?
