I uninstalled Onecare, and did an update of Vista, and it pulled down two
more updates for Defender... (Apr 6th).. Not sure if this was a fault of
Onecare now??

thanks

Ditto here, I have had at least two Defender updates, one as recently as
this morning.
Running Vista 64 bit Ultimate.

Windows Defender is nothing but a useless nag... like your mother-in
law in the backseat as you drive down the highway nagging you're
driving too fast, watch out for this or that. Pathetic but oh so
typical Microsoft garbage.

Why do Microsoft's detractors hang out in Microsoft newsgroups? Go find a
product you like, and help people use it.

Why? Oh just maybe a few people are passing through and want to know
the truth about how bad Windows really is.

As far as the rest of you, it is much like an alcoholic or drug abuser
that pretends he don't have a problem. Microsoft fans are so
brainwashed and forgiving of Microsoft blunders they don't think there
are any problems or don't care if there are being eager to make feeble
excuses why you should accept things as they are, much like addicts
don't really care about anything other than finding their next drink
or getting their next fix to get them through the day.

Back on point, I see you can't factually dispute what I said.
Microsoft fans NEVER can. That's so typical. That leads me to the
inescapable conclusion many that use Windows simply accept it is crap
and don't care that it is offering up lame excuses like all software
has bugs or some equally stupid comment. How sad is that? We deserve
something better! Windows has been around for over 20 years. When the
hell will Microsoft actually deliver a version that actually does what
they claim?

The A&E Network has a excellent show called Intervention that deals
with self abuse and destructive behavior. Shame a good number of
posters here (listening Frank?) can't get an intervention to how
hooked they are on Windows. <snicker>

I can dispute it. I use it regularly now on all my Windows installs have
never had a problem with (Windows Defender), it does not nag me (or anyone
else I know that uses it, and it has often found things that other
ad/spyware software missed.
Am I a brain-washed Microsoft Crony.... Nope. In fact sometimes I am down
right ****ed about how some things are released or configured by default. I
also use Linux quite regular and host all my web pages on Linux servers. I
do however own 4 Windows based systems (3 XP and 1 Vista) and Maintain 9
others (7 Vista and 2 XP). While there can be the occasional hic-up, I have
found most issues to be the result of a loose nut between the chair and the
keyboard.
I imagine this is where most of your problems come from as well. Just the
standard ID10T errors.

So it is a good thing that most the people passing through here (as you say)
will see you as I do. An inexperienced user that has constant PC issues due
to improper configurations and has temper tantrums and blames the OS when he
can't figure them out.
