So, download Windows Live Mail. Takes a few minutes. BFD.

It's to create the illusion of a leaner and faster operating system than
Vista. Of course, once you download all the essential extras it'll be fatter
+ slower than mud.

It sucks, but people should try it. Fortunaely you can uninstall it
easily enough which is the only reason why people might want to consider it.

If you are serious about media manipulation, buy a Mac. PCs are cripled
this way.

For Win 7 mail, Thunderbird is a great replacement for mail.

http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/

It even has less bugs than XP Outlook Express.

As for Movie Maker....ouch... You are kidding right? How can Microsoft
be so daft?

You'll also need the 'extras'.

Installing "extras" doesn't necessarily make the OS run slower....

I've used it, but I'm not impressed.

It brings nothing new to the marketing mix (Vista did), but takes away more
features than it adds. Did we not sing the praises of Windows Calendar in
this group for it to warrant a home in Windows 7?

Or if I've missed the exciting new feature coming with Windows 7 then please
enlighten me. I genuinely would like there to be one...

True, but I've never known it to make an os run faster.

It's certainly faster than Vista on the same machine with the same apps
installed. One major feature is that Win 7 doesn't randomly drop wireless
connections, unlike Vista...
