No new email sound when a screensaver runs

When any screensaver is running there are no sounds from WLM on my XP
machine. Set screensaver to "none" and all sounds work normally. Is there a
way to fix this?

it could be this setting that bothers you:
Tools -> Options -> Personal -> Status -> "Show me as 'Busy' and block my
alerts..."
Uncheck it and try again.

The option was already unchecked.

I believe this behavior is by design (and you can't turn it off) although it's actually to
stop Messenger sounds interfering with full-screen applications (aka, a PowerPoint
presentation).

And yes, the busy option would take care of it, but this was there before that option existed
and has never been removed. Plus, my guess is someone important at Microsoft had it off
once and you can figure out the rest.
