Hi, I am running Vista home premium. when i go to the arrow to shutdown, i
only have 3 options, switch user, log off or lock, i dont have shutdown,
hibernate, sleep etc. Why is this? i am the administrator for this computer -
there is another user with a separate account and there shutdown options are
fine.
Does anyone know how to solve this or what to do?
thanks

It's possible that security settings have disable your authority to
shut down the system. When you switch to the other user, are you using
Fast User Switching, or do you log off first?

those options are these but you need to move your mouse over just a little
to the little arrow on the bar. that should show you restart, power off,
etc. If you wish to do this from an icon on the desktop, its super easy to
create one.

Just make a shortcut ... the executable is shutdown.exe and the parameters
to give it are as follows:
-r (does a restart) -p (does power off) -l (logoff)
there are many others , just type shutdown ? for all of them. Hope this
helps.
