No Printing after KB912919

Hi
About 10% of our XP PC's (all patched up) failed to print to a network
printer after installing KB912919. We have a small W2003 network, all
patched. There seems no common denominator in model of PC or software running
on it.
It seems restarting the print spooler helps, but is not consistent.
Any ideas please
Lewej

Which printer modell and driver version are you using?

Hi
Thanks for the response
We mainly have HP Laserjet 1300, 2300 and 4200. Most have PCL6 drivers, but
some have PCL5 drivers. Funnily enough I noticed the problem on mainly 1300
and 2300 printers, but not 4200.
I have to investigate, but it may be just the PCL5 drivers. I will confirm
if so.
Cheers

Hi
It seems to be a bit better now.....
Strangely enough it seems if I install a HP LJ4200 printer, then all the
other printers seem to work. However HP LJ 2300 and 1300 do not work until a
HP LJ 4200 is installed on the system. (I may have got this wrong, but have
not time to chase it up; especially as things seem to be working.)

Running into the same here. Have one machine running win2k and
Office2003 that can not print from ANY app, can not open printer
folder. Printer is LJ2200d

Other machine exhibiting problems is win2k. Cannot print from IE only.
Printer is LJ1200.

Tried to install 4200 driver, did not resolve the problem.

Ideas?

Additionally, I tried uninstalling KB912919 and it did not resolve the
issue...

The machine that could not view printer folders has now resolved
itself, with no intervention other than 3 reboots...

These are the printer drivers provided by Microsoft?

LOL! Can't imagine why... I really wonder about this patch. Machine
that was working yesterday now can not print to a network printer.
Gotta love it when the PATCH is the problem :-/
