No sound for alerts

I just installed messenger 8.1 and I have no sounds with my alerts. I clicked
on tools, then options, then sounds and alerts, and clicked on all the boxes
I wanted, but the "Browse" button is not high lighted so I can click on it.
Can this be fixed?

My "browse" button was grayed out too until I clicked on one of the listed
types of alerts. Then the botton became usable. However, even after browsing
to select the sound to use, I am still not getting any sounds when new
emaiils or alerts are received. Something must be broken with WLM 8.1. I
hope an MVP responds to this thread. I don't even know how widespread the
problem is or if they're working on it.

I also have no sounds for alerts either nudges (when I send one nudge the
other person receives it, but i don't receive from others neither can listen
to mines)

I've found the solution!! The problem was that I was in "Unavailable" state.
Sounds come back if you're in a "Away" or "Conected" or else State when
you're loggin
