no sound with dvd

I am trying to watch a dvd on my PC and no sound is coming out. I have sound
when playing a CD and during normal operation. All device drivers are working
properly. I did download Sonic's cineplayer dvd decoder, I am thinking that
has something to do with the problem. Pls let me know if anyone else has had
a simular problem.thanks
