no sound in live messenger

I all,
I have a new Dell 9200 that came with vista, I had a hard time
setting up the sound and mike for my logitech usb headset in live messenger

I had the choice of different driver in the sound test ( live messenger
test) , i manage to get the mike working with the setup "logitech headset
etc.. but i tried all (3) different setup including the same as mike but i
still hear no sound, i don't know what else to try.

The strange thing is that it works in Spyke or other programs without even
having to setup their programs.

I tried re-installing live messenger with the same problem and also removed
the sound card (on board) driver to get vista to re-install with no luck
either.

Any thoughts of what to try next.
