Hi, I bought a new lap top 3 months ago running VISTA home premium and
everything has been great but suddenly there is no sounds from my lap top. I
have realtek and device manager says all is working and everything in sound
(speakers etc) is set up ok, but when I hit test button there is no sound.

Please can anyone give advice, many thanks

Click start, and type sndrec32
Unmute the speakers, or sound card volume.

1) Check the cable(s) - and make sure it is plugged into the right hole
2) Check the volume on the PC
3) Check the volume control on the speakers (if any)
4) Go into Device Manager, "uninstall" the sound device, then "scan for
hardware changes" and let it re-install itself.

Just some thoughts...

I had this problem after an audio driver update failed to install correctly.
Check your update logs and see if one tried and failed. I fixed it by going
to the audio driver website and downloaded/installed the driver manually
instead of thru Windows update and the problem was solved.
