I upgraded from XP to Vista and now I get no sound from anything using Real
Player. I can see the "progress" button moving across the screen but no
sound. I get sound from anything else but not RealPlayer. Any hints,
please?

Double-check the mixer. Vista's mixer can be set program-by-program.
While RP is playing something, Right-click the speaker icon in the
taskbar and choose 'Open Volume Mixer' (or just normal click and then
click the Mixer link.) Find the volume control for the RP window and see
if it's not set too low or muted.

I'll try it. Thanks. I was wrong about Real Plyer not working at all. I
do have a program where Real Player works. (I wish I had XP back!)

Did you do an upgrade install or a clean install of Vista? Have you tried
reinstalling Real Player?

I did an upgrade from XP to Vista. I don't have Real Player on a disk.
Real Player works on some files but not on others. I'll do some
experimenting.
If I send a file to a friend that I cannot get to play, he can play it!

You can download real player for free and reinstall and see if it solves
your issues. Beware when you download and install that you are installing
the FREE player from Real and that you do not install any other components
or toolbars that you don't want as Real is notorious for pushing stuff on
you.
